Full-Service Engineering Division

DET R&D is a full-service engineering division specializing in the design, development, manufacture, and test & evaluation of explosive warheads, kinetic-energy penetrators, armor protection systems and innovative metallic and composite structures for both military and commercial applications.

DET is a renowned leader in the field of ballistic design and development. Our capabilities span the entire spectrum of ballistic development, from basic research through armor and warhead design, to the fabrication, testing and evaluation of developed items. Current major projects include:

  • advanced reactive material warhead development and munitions design
  • analysis and testing for explosive mine neutralization systems
  • fabrication of standardized shaped charges to test advanced armor systems
  • development of advanced penetrating munitions to defeat concrete structures

DET personnel are highly experienced in the application and development of a wide variety of general-purpose computer codes for predicting the performance and response of explosive warheads, armor, structures, and related devices. We have also developed several special-purpose computer codes for ballistics analysis.
